Etchings, 1840-1843.

A set of hand-colored aquatint etchings and other etchings based on watercolors and sketches of Native Americans created by Swiss artist Karl Bodmer from 1832 to 1833 while accompanying Prince Alexander Maximilian of Wied on a journey on the Missouri River, published in conjunction with journals by the Prince in "Travels in the Interior of North America." The collection also includes reproductions of the etchings printed in the atlas volume of "Maximilian, Prince of Wied's Travels in the Interior of North America, 1832-1834" (1906).
